Menhir (Celtic: men = stone, hir = long), a high erect stone that has some sort of cult meaning.

Menhir was the first real band I ever played in, this was way back in the beginning of 1990:s. Before Menhir we actually had a band called 'Brain Damage' with the same line-up, except for Janne who joined us later, but I consider Menhir the first real band. The first band that you play in usually has some kind of very special spirit, so it was with Menhir, the band had lot's of enthusiasm and even today the music sounds surprisingly fresh, good spirited and quite original. I'm not sure what to call Menhir's music, it's a bit prog and a bit rock, well, you decide for yourself.

Menhir was

Riku Pasanen
Guitar, Vocals
Janne Riihimäki
Guitar, Vocals
Harri Lamminen
Bass
Ari Sinkkonen
Drums

There's not that much to tell about the band, from my point of view at least, there's no official website for the band and you probably won't find the music anywhere. We also split up about ten years ago, maybe that's why I had the idea of publishing few songs that you may download and listen to.

Please note that these songs are being published under copyright by Menhir.
